Warehouse Development
For the container division of a medical waste
removal company, Harkness Wilder was engaged to develop a high-level
design for a new warehouse to in-source a distribution operation
currently outsourced to a 3rd party logistics provider. The Harkness
Wilder team defined business requirements such as capacity; inspect;
re-work and storage; picking, packing and kitting; production;
sub-assembly and sequencing; staging and shipping; and safety
requirements. Based this information, Harkness Wilder developed
recommendations and budgets concerning material handling equipment;
storage equipment; security enclosures; in-plant buildings;
information technology; dock equipment; supplies; and furnishings.
Additionally, we provided scaled engineering drawing recommendations
for optimized warehouse layout and design. Other deliverables
included a process design for inventory control.
