Procurement
For a leading manufacturer of microphones and
other electronics, Harkness Wilder was engaged to evaluate
purchasing activities associated with indirect expenditures, and
make recommendations to reduce costs and improve internal processes.
Via internal and external interviews, and detailed data collection
and mining, we mapped current processes, and defined current costs,
suppliers, and purchasing patterns. We then benchmarked this
information against our intelligence and drew some significant
conclusions regarding the purchasing strategy, operation,
organization, technology, process, and costs. We developed
recommendations in the categories of strategic, operational,
organizational, and technological. The cost reduction associated
with our recommendations equals approximately $900,000 in annual
savings, and the best practices we designed will ensure a
cost-effective purchasing operation long-term.
